RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference women’s tennis awards were released on Thursday, and four Aggies were named All-LSC, while Sarah Frendo was named the LSC’s Newcomer of the Year.
Frendo, a junior from Fos Sur Mer, France, was one of CU’s top players this year after transferring from Cowley College, playing all year at the No. 3 singles spot and No. 2 doubles; She went 12-6 during the regular season in singles and went 1-1 in the LSC Tournament. Frendo was also named honorable mention in both singles and doubles.
Zhenia Shviadok was named All-Conference for both singles and doubles, while Mathilde Thibaudat was All-LSC in doubles and honorable mention in singles. Sara Petric, was CU’s fourth conference selection as she was named honorable mention doubles with teammate Frendo.
Additionally, Tarleton State’s Alicia Barbaroux was named the Player of the Year, while Angelo State’s Zoe Gubbels and MSU’s Ashley Ramirez were named Co-Sportsmanship Player of the Year, ASU’s Ana Ovcina was awarded Freshman of the Year, and MSU’s Scott Linn was selected as the Coach of the Year.
Cameron will face off against Midwestern State for the third time this season on Saturday at 12 p.m. in the NCAA DII South Central Regional 2.
