SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Aggie softball team improved to 8-2 on the season as they powered their way to an 8-0 run-rule win over Regis and came back to win 4-1 over St. Mary’s at the St. Mary’s Division II College Classic on Saturday.

Against Regis, both teams went scoreless in the first two innings before the Aggies struck for eight runs in the third through fifth innings.

Cameron’s bats caught fire to the tune of five homers starting with a Brenna Busby homer in the third. Annie Combs then followed that up with a solo homer in the fourth as Abbey Warren struck next with a two run bomb to put CU up 4-0.

In the fifth, the Black and Gold ended the game early with a solo homer from Madyson Marvulli and a three run shot from Warren for her second of the game.

In the circle, Rylee Willmon held Regis to just three hits with two punch outs in her five innings of work for her third win of the season.

Like the first game of the day, Cameron’s game against St. Mary’s started with scoreless first and second innings. The Rattlers struck first with a RBI single in the third and then the Aggies answered with two runs in the fourth and two in the fifth.

In the fourth inning, B. Busby drove in two runs with a double to right center and then in the fifth, Marvulli doubled in Kaitlyn Alvarado and then Makaylah Ramirez drove in Callie Busby on a grounder to the shortstop.

Bethany Hines took care of the rest of the game, striking out seven STMU batters with six hits given up in her seven innings of work to earn her fourth win of the season.

Warren and Marvullli led the Aggies with four hits apiece, while Warren had five RBI and three runs scored; Ramirez scored three runs as well.

Cameron will conclude the St. Mary’s Classic on Sunday as they face the University of California-Pennsylvania at 10 a.m.
