RICHARDSON, Texas – For the second week in a row Deondre Ray was honored as Lone Star Conference Player of the Week by league officials on Monday.
The Aggie senior was named as the league’s top offensive performer in this week’s release after he was named the LSC’s top defensive player last week.
Ray was the catalyst for the Aggies in their upset win at No. 6 Midwestern State on Saturday. The Aggie senior was nearly flawless from the field after going 8-for-10 with his two missed shots coming from beyond the arc.
After recording a double-double in his last two games and being honored as LSC Defensive Player of the Week, Ray missed his third in a row with seven boards and two steals. In his last three contests, he has averaged 18.7 points per game versus two teams nationally ranked in the top-15. CU’s 80-75 victory over MSU was its first in Wichita Falls since 1990 and the team’s third win against a ranked opponent this season.
In 20 starts, Ray is averaging 13.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per outing.
Ray and the Aggies have a half game lead in the LSC standings with six games remaining in the regular season; they will be on the road on Wednesday to face Texas A&M-Commerce at 7:30 p.m.
