SHAWNEE, Okla. — James Majenge recorded his third straight race win on Saturday, as the junior surged to a first place finish at the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational, while the Aggies finished fourth as a team.
OBU Invitational Race Results
Majenge, who finished first in CU’s first two races of 2018, won his third at the OBU Invite by 11 seconds, finishing with a time of 25:20.47. He paced the Aggies to a fourth place finish against the tough field in Shawnee.
As a team, Cameron came in with a total time of 2:16:41.44 and an average time of 27:23.02, which was a full minute behind the race winner Oklahoma City, who paced the field with a total time of 2:11.20.62 and four finishers in the top-10 individually,
Behind Majenge, Roy Kipkorir also finished in the top-10 for CU, placing seventh with a 26:28.25 time, while Felix Nadebornand Steffen Riestenpatt were next to finish in 28th and 30th. Additionally, Celso Ramirez was seconds behind Riestenpatt with a time of 28:42.53 in 37th, and Dereck Adames was the last CU finisher in the top-50 with a 43rd place finish.
Joining Oklahoma City and Cameron in the top-5 of the team standings were East Central in second, Oklahoma Baptist in third, and Southwestern Assemblies of God in fifth.
Next up for the Aggies will be the Lone Star Conference Preview Meet on Oct. 20, hosted by West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas.
