LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron University women’s cross country and track team roster is set as head coach Zach Johnson has announced the signing of 17 female student-athletes that will make up the 2018-19 squads.

Women’s Cross Country and Track Signing Class

“We have a solid group coming to campus for our first ever women’s track & field and cross country teams,” said Johnson. “We will definitely be young as we have 14 true freshman on the roster but I am impressed with their enthusiasm so far.  We need to train well this summer to be ready to compete in the always tough Lone Star Conference, but I think they are up to the task.”

Freshman Taylor Esquivel, was the first runner to sign on to be an Aggie, as she was announced last fall. Joining her are fellow Texas natives Keyanah Browning, Alma Duran, Angela Moreno, Jessica Parnell, Karla and Kayla Taylor, and Violet Torres. They will be joined by Oklahoma products Hollie Babel, Chloe Phillips, Courtney Shannon, Bailey Talmage, and Shianne Taylor.

Additionally, Johnson has also added the running talents of McNeese State transfer Edna Cheptum, Germany’s Kathrin Halter, Keyanna Patterson from Wichita, Kan., and St. Cloud, Florida’s Valeria Villatoro.

The Aggie women’s cross country team will debut at the Southwestern Oklahoma State Invitational on Sep. 8 at 8 a.m. in Weatherford, Okla.; the track spring schedule will be released later this fall.
