ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Aggie men’s golf team closed out play at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate with a third round score of 314 on Tuesday.
Cameron, who shot a 310 in the first round and a 308 in the second, finished in 15th place with a tournament score of 932. They ended up 47 strokes back of the event winner Western New Mexico, who carded an 885.
Dario Gabriel led the Aggies with a 235, shooting a 78 in the third round, while Niels Sorensen and Mason LeGrange tied with a pair of 236s, Kevin Farmer shot a 237, and Devin Whipple, who had a team-low 73 on Tuesday, finished the 54-hole tournament with a 238.
Gabriel led CU with seven birdies during the two rounds, and Whipple and LeGrange each had six. Sorensen had an Aggie-best 31 pars, while Farmer had 30.
Lubbock Christian finished 11 strokes back of WNMU in second place, while Dixie Stat came in third with an 898 and Colorado Mesa, Colorado School of Mines, and Texas A&M-Commerce tied for fourth.
WNMU’s Sam Ruston was the top individual finisher, recording a four under 212 for the two day classic. His teammate Gonzalo Pan De Soraluce and LCU’s Jeffrey Maciejewski tied for second with a pair of 216s.
Cameron will look for a stronger performance on the course in their next tournament, as they compete at the MSU Texas Mustang Invite, Oct. 15-16 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
