TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the 2018 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes on Tuesday and the Cameron men’s tennis team received multiple honors.

Men’s tennis claimed one of the 735 spots across all five divisions of college tennis as an ITA All-Academic Team. The honor is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).

Three members of the Cameron men’s tennis team were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for 2018: Przemyslaw Zielinski,
Luke Howard, and Julien Aubry-Damon.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria:
1.) be a varsity letter winner
2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).

Zielinski, a junior business administration major, was one of the top players in the Lone Star Conference, as he was named the LSC Newcomer of the Year and a first team all-conference selection in both singles and doubles. He finished the year ranked No. 29 individually by the ITA after going 11-7 playing at No. 1 for Cameron.

Howard, who is a junior studying biology, and Aubry-Damon, a junior mathematics major, also had impressive first years at CU. Howard was 5-10 in doubles while playing in 15 matches, and Aubry-Damon went 3-6 in singles and 4-1 in doubles for the Aggies.
