LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron University 2018 volleyball schedule is now available on the University’s athletics website with times, locations, and promotional nights all listed.
Fans’ first chance at seeing the 2018 squad will be during a Black and Gold scrimmage on Aug. 11 in the Aggie Gym. Cameron will have two more scrimmages before the start of the regular season, Aug. 18 against Southeastern Oklahoma State and Aug. 21 against Central Christian College (Kan.).
The Aggies’ regular season begins Aug. 24-25 as they compete in the Southern Arkansas Tournament, where they will play four matches in two days against Quincy, Mississippi College, Southern Arkansas, and Union (Tenn.). CU will then host Southwestern Oklahoma State for their home opener on Aug. 28 before going to their second four match classic. They will visit Pittsburg State, Aug. 31-Sep. 1, for matches against Northwestern Oklahoma State, Pitt State, Christian Brothers, and Chadron State.
On Sep. 4, Cameron will visit Southern Nazarene on Sep. 4 for their final non-conference match before welcoming in West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico to the Aggie Gym Sep. 7-8 to begin Lone Star play. The Black and Gold will then begin a four match road trip Sep. 14-22, visiting Western New Mexico, UT Permian Basin, Texas A&M-Commerce, and Texas Woman’s in the two week span. CU will then wrap up the first half of league play with home matches against Tarleton State and Angelo State (Sep. 28-29), a visit to Midwestern State on Oct. 2, and then a home match against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Oct. 5.
The second half of the league schedule begins on Oct. 9 when the Aggies host TWU for their annual “Dig Pink” night, where fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of cancer research. Following a trip to ENMU on Oct. 12 and WT on Oct. 13, CU returns to Lawton for a three match home stand. CU will face UTPB at the Aggie Gym on Oct. 19 and then host the WNMU Mustangs on Oct. 20 for “Senior Day”. They will close out the three game stretch against Texas A&M-Commerce on Oct. 23.
Cameron’s final stretch of games include three matches on the road and one at home. They will visit ASU and TSU for a weekend road trip Oct. 26-27 and then host rival MSU for their final home game on Oct. 30. The 2018 edition of the Red River Showdown will be the final promotional night for CU as they encourage fans to wear costumes to the match against the Mustangs for a Halloween themed evening. The Aggies then travel to Kingsville, Texas to take on the Javelinas to conclude the regular season.
Last on the CU schedule is the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament, which will be held at the league’s No. 1 seed, Nov. 8-9.
